Why Advent?

Advent comes from the Latin word meaning “coming.” Jesus is coming. It is a way to prepare Jesus arriving.
It is indeed a joyful time, but it is also meant to be a preparation changing to a better person.

Advent is a time to show the world why we believe.
Preparing yourself before baby Jesus arriving will shape you into the real you.
You won’t gain fame or money, but you will get rid of lust, envy, ego, pride, and hate.
Don’t wait for New Year’s to change, you can start at this moment. %99 of people who do New Year’s resolution never happens anyways.
Advent is also much like Lent. Prayer, penance, and fasting are a must during this season.

On the first Sunday of Advent, the first purple candle is lit. This candle is typically called the “Prophecy Candle” in remembrance of the prophets, primarily Isaiah, who foretold the birth of Christ:
Therefore the Lord himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive and give birth to a son, and will call him Immanuel. (Isaiah 7:14)
